Hiking, waterfalls & monkeys

This three-day trip is great for those who love nature. We take you to the Volta region for a hike to the waterfalls, a pick-nick in the forest and visit the Monkey Sanctuary.

Arrival

We will pick you up on Friday evening at an agreed location in Accra. While enjoying dinner we drive towards our hotel close to the waterfalls. When we arrive to our destination, for those who still have energie, we will enjoy a night full or cultural music and dancing.

Hiking & waterfalls

On the Daturday we will visit the Wli Waterfalls, the highest falls in West Africa. The hills mark the border between Ghana and Togo. A walk through the forest of the Agumatsa wildlife sanctuary offers a chance to see a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies and birds.

To get there one has to walk through the Rain Forest on a small footpath crossing 9 smaller streams in the process. Travelers have the choice of visiting the lower-falls (1 hour hike) of the upper falls (6 hour hike). To get to the upper falls people must climb a semi-tretorous cliff, however for those able to do it the experience is worth the risk.

In the evening when we arrive back the hotel a nice barbeque will be waiting for us.

Monkey sanctuary

Early morning we leave towards The Monkey SanctuaryThe sanctuary is surrounded by a tropical forest. With just a banana, one could take the opportunity to play with the monkeys. Each group of the monkeys is said to be led by a Commando, a very thick stout monkey that protects the rest of the group from external attacks.

After visiting the monkey we start traveling back toward Accra, during our drive we will stop at a few small villages on the way.
