Orientation Accra

During the orientation you'll get to explore Accra, Ghana's capital city and seat of Government. We take you around our favorite places and show you the vibrant life of the capital in one day. 


Arts & culture

We'll pick you up in the morning at an agreed location in Accra. The adventure starts with visiting to a local casket making shop to see a collection of caskets carved in the shape of different objects, depicting traditional beliefs in life after death. Our tour continues with visits to the Labadi Artists Alliance Gallery and the Loom Art Gallery where authentic art works by renowned Ghanaian Artists are displayed.

You will visit the Black Star Square (also known as independence square) for a short history about and it struggle for independence and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial park (the tomb of Ghana's first President and drive by OSU Castle (also known as Christians-borg Castle).

You get to experience the vibrant life of the locals during a walk across the busiest and biggest market in West-Africa, Makola market. We take a small breaks and let you try some local snacks .

Jamestown

We will have a nice lunch at James Town before starting our tour.

Jamestown is the oldest district in the city of Accra, emerged as communities around the 17th century British James Fort on the Gulf of Guinea coast. Today Jamestown is inhabited by the local fishing communities primarily the Ga. Although in a state of decay following years of neglect by the government, the district is a popular tourist destinations for those seeking to see the remnants of Accra's colonial past.

We will visit the original Jamestown Lighthouseinteract with the locals, visit the Jamestown fishing port and Jamestown fort were most political prisoner were kept during the colonial times.

 

Drumming & souvinirs

At the Accra Art market our friend David is waiting to give you drumming and traditional dance lessons. The Art Market Showcases traditional handicrafts from all over Ghana; the centre has workshops and art galleries. There are arts and crafts bazaars and a traditional textile market with souvenirs that have been crafted in clay, wood, leather and metal. West Africa is rich in arts & crafts, and so much can be found in Ghana: everything that was crafted had some purpose or meaning behind it. 

We end the City tour with a nice dinner and bring you back to where we picked you up.

This trip is suitable for both young and older people, singles and groups, anybody who wants to get to know Accra!

Price?

The price for this trip is €75,- / ¢300,- per person, including: transport, entrance fees for lighthouse, drumming classes and museum, lunch, snacks, dinner and beverages.

For the optional motorbike ride we charge an extra fee of €3,75 / ¢15,- per person.
